Specialty Cruises, A Different Kind Of Cruise
Written By Bob McKinney
If you're planning a cruise, it doesn't have to be just any old cruise to some exotic port. If you want an even more unique experience, there are many cruises today that offer special options such as themes.
The Disney cruise is probably one of the more famous specialty cruises which may or may not include time at a Walt Disney World resort as part of the package.
Disney cruises offer programs for kids of all ages along with Disney entertainment and spa activities and elegant dining options for the adult family members. Children on board the three- to 11-day cruises can enjoy age-specific activities from 9 a.m. until as late as midnight. Lounges, spas, salon facilities, private pools and dining are in place for the adults to enjoy. The packages visit the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. You may stay in a resort as a part of your package.
But a Disney cruise isn't for everyone and a variety of specialized options are available to cater to a wide range of interests. Singles cruises, cruises focusing on food and wine, health and well-being, history and culture, music, science and the environment, theater and arts, special event and even musicals and performers are among the many options available.
The Fred Olsen line, for example, hosts a series of cruises dedicated to bridge players, meaning they can play away the day while their friends enjoy other interests, or they can combine the best of cruising with game play. Computers, dancing, golf and antiques are the focus of other hobby cruises.
Whether it be a hobby or favorite sport, there is surely a cruise where the participants share in your passion and special guests who leave you star-struck such as one you'll find in a baseball greats cruise.
Passover, Thanksgiving and Christmas cruises are among the few cruises which are more geared towards the holidays. Sam Donaldson are some of the well-known figures who hosts specially themed cruises.
A number of specialty cruises are available for you to do something you'd like to spend several days doing on board a ship with hundreds of strangers who share your interests. Your hobby or passion with the amenities of a cruise exotic locales, fine food and the open seas is a great combination for a dream vacation.
Cruises for families, honeymooners, groups and tour destinations are also available for those whose interests are not quite that specific. Simple internet searches or a consultation with a travel agent can help you identify and find the outing that will best meet your vacation needs.
Add the allure of choosing from a number of destinations and starting points, the fact that all of your costs are typically included in one package, and the ease of booking and specialty cruises may be even more attractive as a way to spend your vacation getaway.
