"Safety has been an issue with all of us. No matter how young or old we are, we need to be safe at all times and we have to stay that way as much as possible. Because of this need, we rely on many things that can make us feel safe and secure and one of the things that we rely on are good luck symbols.

Below are some of the most popular symbols that have been part of people's lives:

Shou This sign depicts life, age, and or a new year of life.

Wishbones Perhaps one of the most famous of good luck signs is the wishbone. In fact, wishbones are so famous that humans have adopted the habit of making them part of Christmas, Thanksgiving and other special celebrations.

The wishbone, taken from a turkey, is kept over night and snapped into two the next morning by two people using their pinkies while making a wish. The wish of the person who gets the larger portion of the bone is supposed to come true.

Ji is another popular symbol which is for hope and luck.

Cai, which is used by many Chinese businessmen is used in offices and other business establishments to attract good luck and good fortune.

Shamrock, Clover or Four-leaf Clover This sign originated from the Celtics. Each single leaf in the four-leaf clover has different meanings, the first being fame, the second, love, the third, wealth and the fourth, health.

Many believe that a person who has a four leaf clover can't be touched or harm by any evil. It has also been said that one who is wearing a jewelry in a clover shape can attract love. If a person dreams about a clover, it is believed that the person will stay happy his entire life.

Star Many people believe the star symbol was originally designed by Pythagoras to represent perfection.

Stars are worn as part of a clothing during the middle ages. This is a representation of the universe which is called the Wizard's Star.

Roosters are also very famous symbols. These animals are viewed to attract good luck, wealth, fidelity, protection and these animals are said to ward off bad spirits.

Science, however, has remained skeptical about these symbols because these have not been proven. But people believe in them anyway because of their faith."

Roosters are some of the most popular among these good luck symbols. Have ceramic rooster figurines in your kitchen or maybe fill the room up with rooster Portugal decors to promote good taste as you prepare meals for the family.
