  • If you call a tow truck on a car thats on your property, are you liable for anything?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under Uncategorized |

There’s a car thats parked on my property, and has parked here a few times, because I believe they live in the apartment next door. I have a very large parking drive way and plus I dont own a car myself, so it doesn’t really bother me. If i called a tow truck, do i have to sign any paper work or have my name on record for any reason?

If you believe it’s an honest mistake, leave a note the next time asking them (nicely) to refrain from parking there in the future. If they do it again, you can either then call the police (since it’s illegal trespassing), or perhaps leave another note, this one with more direct language (stop parking here or else).

Don’t call the tow truck yourself, they’ll want you to pay for it, call the police - but try the note first.

I think if you call the tow truck, you have to pay the tow bill. If you really want the car off your property, I think you have to call the police and get it towed to their impound. Then, I think you have to sign a complaint.
